Why You Might Need a Baby Bolster Pillow

!±8± Why You Might Need a Baby Bolster Pillow

One of the best investments a mother could make for her new born child is to purchase a baby bolster pillow. With the use of a baby bolster pillow you ensure your baby has the necessary support to support both the neck and spine of the young one, thus preventing any injuries or discomfort that could possibly occur during sleep. Every mother and father is aware of the constant checking to make sure there baby is sleeping comfortably so not only does the baby get the best sleep possible but also you as parents are not suddenly awaken to your crying young one.

A tool to make your child feel emotionally connected

Apart from the physical benefits a baby bolster pillow provides you are also providing something that your children can emotionally connect to. For children that are slightly older you can purchase bolster pillow covers that are vibrant in colour and vary in texture to stimulate there sense of touch as well as comfort them during sleep hours. With so many benefits to be had with this type of pillow it is no wonder some mothers and fathers consider a bolster pillow to be one of the best investments they could make for there developing child.

Getting the right size of pillow & making a purchase

Size varies depending on where you would like to use the pillow. For cribs you want to insure the pillow is the same length as the mattress to provide the right support and for larger bed areas the same rule should apply, a length as long as the mattress in question. It can be difficult finding a bolster that fits your size requirements depending on where you decide to look, one of the best places to carry out your search is online. If you are looking for a certain type of fabric for your pillow to be constructed from then make sure no harmful chemicals are included to protect the health of your baby. Materials such as polyester and silk are generally safe whilst other types such as wool and faux should be treated with care and inspected for quality.

Pregnant - Let's Go Shopping

!±8± Pregnant - Let's Go Shopping

Congratulations now that you're pregnant...lets go shopping! Here's a simple list of basics to watch out for when designing your beautiful healthy nursery.

Furniture

Go with furniture that's made of all wood rather than something constructed with MDF (Medium Density Fiber). MDF is a pressed wood made with formaldehyde and other toxic chemicals that will off-gas into the air your baby is breathing. Make sure the furniture is finished with a non-toxic paint or sealant.

Steer clear of plastic furniture and laminates (like formica) as well, since they are made from petroleum and suffer the same issues.

Paint it 'Green'

No matter what color you choose to paint your nursery, think 'green'. Even though lead has been banned in traditional paint since 1978, you should take care when purchasing paint, that it is low in VOCs, (Volatile Organic Compounds). VOCs are toxic fumes that will off-gas into the air. These fumes can dramatically affect your baby your baby both before and after you've given birth. So, if you're pregnant let someone else do the work, stay away from the house, open the windows and use a fan to keep the room ventilated.

Mattress

Traditional crib mattresses are treated with fire retardants called PBDEs. These chemicals will accumulate in our bodies and affect our nervous and endocrine system. A mattress made of natural latex with a cover made of cotton and wool is fire retardant without any of the chemicals found in a traditional mattress. Nothing could have a greater affect on your baby than the mattress that he/she is snuggling up to 10-18 hours a day.

Bedding

Because bedding gives the room it's look, parents are often attracted to bedding based on design. But be careful, because the traditional fabrics are loaded with toxic chemicals. Look for organic cotton or bamboo fabric and make sure that it is NOT coated with a wrinkle free finish. Now that you've found something healthy and organic, don't wash it in detergent that has chemicals.

Carpet

There are endless options when it comes to your floor covering, however because of its warmth and ease, carpet is traditionally the most popular preference in bedrooms. New synthetic carpets can off-gas VOCs and all carpet can collect dust mites and allergens. Therefore, when you go shopping, look for the 'Green Label Plus' program that tests the carpet, the cushion and the adhesives for off gassing or choose carpet made of natural fibers such as wool or cotton and always use a vacuum with a HEPA filter to get rid of the dust mites that will collect in the fibers.

Now let's get shopping and create a nursery that's not only beautiful, but healthy too!

Remedies For Taking Out The Smell For Mold And Mildew

!±8± Remedies For Taking Out The Smell For Mold And Mildew

Do you have a mildew problem, basement mold that is creating a funky musty odor? The odor is very common in your basement, mildew mold is from a warm moist climate. Hence most basements are moist and dark they are great breeding grounds for black mold. It is even familiar when there is a heavy amount of mildew present, that a susceptible individual could acquire allergies and common mold symptoms from the mold settling on the surface. By just having a small amount of basement mildew mold in the house, one could become quite sick just by walking into the small area. This happens because there is no circulation of fresh air and when inhaling the airborne mold spores in a warm musty basement the toxic mold spores will enter into the system and attach into the bodies lungs and nasal cavities.

These will cause some common and very harmful mold symptoms, such as headaches, water eyes, and others. Some common symptoms of mold are coughing, headaches, scratchy throat, and blood in the lungs. Mold symptoms become common in individuals who have lower immunity such as the elderly and infants. We call this immuno comprimised. Having mold in your breathinh space may cause many Mold Symptoms. Scratchy throats are common. An individual may feel their throat to be scratchy almost as if they have to cough. A scratchy throat is a common black mold identifier.

There are a couple of ways to fix a mildew problem in a basement. Since the first problem in the basement is air circulation you want to purify the air and use heppa filters, better air circulation is highly recommendedt. By having new air to circulate keeping the humidity down, the basement and confined area will become a complex place for the spores to thrive and amplify.

A well-known issue that arises in killing mold mildew in a basement is searching through the carpeting. You should always be aware if there ever been a leak inside the basement or some type of water intrusion event, if so black mold may be on the carpet and rather than hiring a carpet cleaning company you may want to replace the entire carpeting. Since the carpeting became extremely damp it will be unfeasible to remove the spores from the old carpet. Even the tack strips below the carpeting would need to be removed. This is very common with basement mildew mold, just be sure to maintain the carpeting and if one is going to rip out the carpets make sure to remove the tack steps below. The wooden tack strips can carry quite a bit of mildew and mold. If you have some amount of mold in the basement and on carpeting and are tired of cleaning it continuously spray it down with a organic mold cleaning product. In order for the removal of use an all natural organic product that is used for killing mold and mildew. If you are planning on killing mold and mildew in the basement it may be a everlasting task unless you try a mold blocking solution that offers mold prevention and mold removal. Most solutions will kill the mold, but not stop it or take away the musty odor. If a mold problem becomes a bigger issue it may be to late to spray it down with an allnatural cleaning product, you need to look into hiring a certified mold inspector. They will create protocols for a mold remediation company and get the ball rolling for your mold problem.

So if you are finding a musty odor in the house, you may have mold or a previous water event that was not taken care of correctly. If ever needing more information on black mold visit a free Mold Removal Website that offers information from a certified microbial consultant.

Toxic substances and its alternatives

!±8± Toxic substances and its alternatives

Modern mattresses are a danger to health hidden in plain sight. Many people do not realize that the mattresses flame retardants and other materials that constantly release of gas in the air may contain potentially harmful to health. Fortunately, organic matter provides a safe and healthy.

Volatile Organic Compounds

A cornerstone of the mattress becomes toxic volatile organic compounds (VOCs). They are incredibly common, but for regulatory purposes, the termgenerally for compounds that evaporate into the air under normal use and potentially endanger human health. Unbeknownst to consumers, produce many volatile organic compounds of everyday articles. Studies have shown that prolonged exposure to certain volatile organic compounds increases the relative risk of some cancers. In the short term, VOCs can irritate eyes and respiratory system, are particularly angry with respiratory diseases such as asthma and those with MCS. BothOccupational Safety and Health Administration and the Environmental Protection Agency VOC connection respiratory irritation, along with a couple of health issues. As more Americans are trying to limit their exposure to chemicals, which overlook a very important source for VOCs as possible: the mattress.

Mattresses Deconstructed

Modern mattresses are usually made of polyurethane foam between the metal springs or simply just had built in the same foam. What most peopledo not know is that the polyurethane foam is made from oil, gas discharge - that evaporates at normal temperatures for long periods of chemicals continuously released into the air. Memory foam, which has become very popular in recent years is kind of high-density polyurethane foam is produced from petroleum. Can emit VOCs foam mattresses, people are trying to overcome a lot in other areas of their lives. And since most of his life spent sleeping, is notan insignificant issue. While the Polyurethane Foam Association may insist the foam is safe for consumers, other researchers note that mattresses eventually end up in landfills, presenting environmental concerns, as well.

Flame Retardants in Mattresses

In the 1970s, flame retardants became widely used in mattresses in order to reduce the risks from cigarettes. At the time, polyurethane foam was believed to be an effective fire retardant because cigarettes can't ignite the foam. So he began to be used frequently. As a flame has become the main concern - as children playing with matches - that is, if polybrominated diphenyl ethers (PBDEs) have been developed. Since then, researchers have found concentrations of PDBEs anywhere from seal fat to breast milk. According to some studies in animals have shown that PDBEs impair the development of the reproductive system and nervous, manufacturers voluntarily stopped them PDBE mattresses to defend. SinceFlame retardants have been developed using new synthetic fibers, to stop the fire. Unfortunately, people do not know what these fibers, because her makeup is subject to copyright, the producers do not need to disclose it.

Mattress

The cover of the mattress ticking is called, but it can also be a source of hazardous chemicals. Children's mattresses are often covered with vinyl. In the vinyl production, the producers take a hard plastic and dealing with otherschemicals in order to make it malleable. Often, manufacturers use phthalates to soften the plastic; this presents problems given studies have shown concentrations of phthalates in human tissue and have linked phthalates to health problems. On January 1, 2009, California became the first state to enact a ban on the use of phthalates in children's mattresses. In February of the same year, a federal law went into effect, banning three varieties of phthalates in children's products, mattresses included. In all these areas - composition mattress, flame retardants, and covers - potentially hazardous chemicals are used without notice.

Alternative

There is an alternative to those chemical laden, unhealthy mattresses. Because of health problems presented by the many toxic chemicals, organic mattresses and mattress covers have become widely available, such as those offered by Royal-Pedic. These are made with natural ingredients such as organic cotton, made bioOrganic sheep's wool and latex. Do not use harsh chemicals or foam problem in their construction, so there are concerns about oil desaturation. You even have to meet fire regulations with a wrap wool as a natural flame retardant. Some companies offer orthopedic pillow or even organic versions to match.

Exposure to chemical agents is a constant concern in today's world. Consumers should limit their exposure to toxic chemicals, consider buying an organicMattress, both for peace of mind and better sleep.
